The Iino Kaiun Group transports liquefied gases such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) aboard a fleet of large gas tankers, the majority fitted with special equipment such as refrigerated tanks and compressors.
The Iino Kaiun Group's history with large gas tankers began in 1963 when it completed the Toyosu Maru, a large oceangoing LPG tanker, placing us among the pioneers in this industry. Our solid history, experience, and technology are renowned among customers in Japan and overseas, enabling us to conduct most of our business on medium- to long-term contracts.
Utilizing a wealth of experience backed by a pioneering history, we act as a seaborne LPG supply pipeline, with a focus on serving the world's major LPG importing countries-Japan, Korea, and China.
Amid rising concern for global environmental preservation in recent years, LNG is drawing increased attention as a clean source of energy, and the number of LNG development projects and LNG shipping volumes are increasing rapidly worldwide. The Iino Kaiun Group has long participated in Japan-bound as well as trilateral LNG transportation projects. From 2005, we also began ship management for LNG tankers, starting with the SK Sunrise, a LNG tanker chartered by the Korea Gas Corporation. In 2008, we began joint LNG tanker operations with the Kansai Electric Power Company, further expanding our LNG transport operations to encompass a diverse range of business models.
Services
Transportation of crude oil and petroleum by oil tankers is a lifeline for Japan because the country depends on imports for almost all of its oil energy needs.
The Iino Kaiun Group's history with oil tankers began in 1929 when it completed the Takatori Maru No. 1, and following that in 1931, it completed construction of Japan's first oceangoing tanker, the Fujisan Maru.
We pioneered transportation of petroleum by oil tankers and We once had the largest fleet of oil tankers in Japan.
Although our fleet has been scaled back, it now comprises a rich variety of vessels, from VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers; tankers in the 300,000-DWT class) to small to medium-sized crude oil tankers and petroleum product tankers, enabling us to fulfill our customers' needs and transport crude oil and petroleum products to Japan and around the entire globe. Almost all of the vessels we operate are engaged in medium- to long-term contracts, thereby contributing to the consistent transportation of oil for energy.
